Educational and Professional Experience

Improving the emotional and mental well-being of individuals is not only my professional goal, but also my personal passion and my purpose.

I began my educational journey at the University of Idaho in 2000, and I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Management and Human Resource Management in 2004.  I returned to Boise and worked in the field of Human Resources for 4 years.  Although I enjoyed working with people and creating relationships, I felt that something was missing from my work.

After experiencing a personal tragedy in 2005 and attending counseling myself a few years later, I realized that the profession of counseling was my true professional calling.

I enrolled in the the Master's of Mental Health Counseling Program at ISU in Meridian in the Fall of 2008. In 2009, I was hired as a PSR specialist at About Balance Mental Health, which was such a beneficial learning experience for me.  I graduated from ISU in 2010, and I continued working at About Balance as a PSR specialist and Case Manager, and then as a Mental Health Therapist.  In 2011, I took as second job at Warm Springs Children's Counseling home, where I saw an average of 20 clients a week (from the ages of 3 to 18).  I learned about play therapy, sand tray therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy for children.

Then in 2013, I left both jobs to take a position with Health and Welfare as a Mental Health Therapist on the Community Treatment Team at Region 3 in Caldwell. During my time at H&W, I gained experience working with persons diagnosed with SPMI's (serious and persistent mental illness) including Schizophrenia, Schizo-affective disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder.  I also learned about the voluntary and involuntary psychiatric hospitalization process.  I also became trained as a SOAR representative and successfully helped several people apply for and receive social security benefits. I became familiar with other vital community resources such as low-income housing resources, food stamps, Medicaid, food pantries, utility assistance programs, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.

In 2019, I left my job at Health and Welfare to open my own Private Practice in Boise.  Since 2019, I have gained invaluable knowledge on how to treat and heal individuals who have experienced trauma, neglect and abuse. I also became trained in EMDR, and consider EMDR to be a critical and helpful tool in helping people overcome trauma and experience a lasting sense of peace and healing.  I continue to learn every day and seek new and different ways to assist my clients in achieving their own personal therapy goals.
